As the Director of Finance, I am responsible for directing, co-coordinating, and overseeing the activities and staff of the Department of Finance. The department is responsible for the financial activities and records of the City, the Successor Agency (the former RDA), the Financing Authority, and the Housing Authority. It provides support services to the other City departments in the areas of payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and purchasing. The department also provides staff support to the City Treasurer in the investing of City funds and banking. Business Licenses are also issued for the City by the Department of Finance.

The Department of Finance issues the City's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and coordinates work with the outside auditing firm that audits the City's financial statements and operations each year. It provides the primary staff support to the Chief Executive Officer in the preparation of the budget annually.

The staff of the Department works hard to provide strong customer service to the other departments and the citizens of Baldwin Park. The members of the staff work hard to be responsive to the community and the other departments while ensuring accurate records are maintained and the appropriate financial procedures are adhered to. Timely response, accuracy, and transparency are the top priorities for the Department.
