Overview

The City Council is comprised of five members elected at large for four years. The Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem is elected directly by the City Council from among its members. The Mayor is the presiding officer at council meetings, with the Mayor Pro Tem filling that role in the Mayor's absence. The City Council also serves as Board Members to the Community Development Commission, Housing Authority, Financing Authority and Baldwin Park Charitable Relief Foundation.

The terms of office are staggered, with two members elected at one general municipal election and three at the next. Elections are held the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November of even-numbered years.
