Section 8 Program
The Housing Choice Voucher Program is a federally funded rental program that assists very low-income families, elderly, and disabled households. Decent, safe, and sanitary housing units are provided to households through rental vouchers. Participants can find their own housing, which includes single-family homes, townhouse, and apartments.
Participants are able to select any housing that meets the requirements of the program, and is not limited to units located in subsidized housing projects.
The BPHA currently has 715 active clients participating in the Section 8 program and 3, 309 applicants on the waiting list.
