Reception: April 24th 2:00pm-4:00pm

The ARC will be hosting a Solo Art Show featuring Dolores Gonzalez Haro. Dolores was born in Los Angeles, California and currently resides in the San Gabriel Valley. Dolores’s paintings are a self-expression of her life and those who have influenced her the most. Women in her family have played a strong role in her life, and she pulls from their strength. Dolores is proud of her Mexican heritage and she depicts rich vibrant colors in all her pieces reflecting the beauty of the Chicano culture. Her images of woman are depicted as both powerful and mystical beings. Click here to view flyer.

Frida Kahlo: Through the Lens of Nickolas Muray
Show Dates: June 3rd-August 7th
Reception: June 5th 4:00pm-7:00pm

The Arts and Recreation Center is pleased to host a special exhibition highlighting the life of Frida Kahlo through the eyes of photographer Nickolas Muray. Nickolas Muray, a Hungarian born American photographer was known to photograph celebrities between the 1920’s and 1940’s and became romantically involved with Frida Kahlo over a 10 year period. Although they never married, Frida and Nickolas remained close friends up until her death in 1954. From the Nickolas Muray archives, this special exhibit highlights color and black and white images of Frida Kahlo. As a result of this very special exhibition, the ARC will plan several programs throughout the run of the show to complement this event.

Aydee Lopez Martinez
Show Dates: August-September
Reception: TBD

Aydee Lopez Martinez was born in Teocaltiche, Jalisco, Mexico and raised in Los Angeles. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art from the University of California at Los Angeles. Her work has been shown extensively throughout Southern California, and also in New York and Mexico. Her products are carried in stores throughout the United States. My work is a reflection of myself and what I aspire to be; I hope that through my work I can show at a moments glance what I hold most dear: Simplicity, honesty, family, good nature. If I can communicate through art how proud I am of my heritage and how amazingly wonderful it feels to be a woman, a mother, an artist...If my paintings can transcend an emotion or a feeling to someone else, then I am happy to create a cycle that nourishes my soul as well as that of the viewer’s.
