Olive Pit Quarry Project

On Wednesday November 19, the City of Irwindale Planning Commission held a public hearing for consideration of an Environmental Impact Report (Final EIR) to re-activate the mining operation of the Olive Pit.  Following Irwindale staff and consultant presentations, the Planning Commission voted unanimously (5-0) to recommend approval of the Final EIR to the Irwindale City Council at their next meeting Wednesday December 3, 2014.

During the Planning Commission public hearing, about 12 Baldwin Park residents were present and voiced their opposition on the record.  Baldwin Park staff also attended the meeting and submitted a report of deficiencies in the Final EIR and requested the document to be re-written and re-circulated, or the project be denied.
